What is a Font?
A font is all the letters, numbers, punctuation and other symbols which compose a typeface. Fonts were first developed as cast lead type for printing presses, and were later digitized as typefaces for use on computers.

The first font
The first typeface was designed by Johann Gutenberg, for his movable type press. Books were all hand-lettered at the time, and Gutenberg wanted to create a faster way to produce books that looked hand-lettered. He designed his type in the style of the Gothic blackletter at the time, so that his printed books would look hand-lettered.

As more printing shops opened up, printers began to look at other lettering styles to use as models for typefaces. More thought was put into creating typefaces, and this gave rise to the art of typographic design.

Roman and Italic styles
Nicholas Jenson designed the first true Roman typeface around 1460, which was used for books printed in Italy. This was an upright typeface that was lighter in design compared to the heavy blackletter type of German printing. To this day, upright typefaces are referred to as Roman, or Regular.

In the early 1500's, Aldus Manutius developed the first Italic typeface with Francesco Griffo, influenced by the popularity of cursive writing. The capitals were still upright, but all lowercase letters were slanted to the right, like cursive writing. The slanted letters took up less space on the page, so books could be smaller in size and therefore less expensive. This style was called Italic, meaning from Italy, but today an italic typeface refers to slanted, or oblique, letters (including capitals)

Definition of Typography
Definition: The design and use of typefaces as a means of visual communication from calligraphy to the ever-developing use of digital type is the broad use of the term typography. However, the art and practice of typography began with the invention of moveable type and the printing press. Typography is sometimes seen as encompassing many separate fields from the type designer who creates letterforms to the graphic designer who selects typefaces and arranges them on the page.

Font editing programs

DTL FontMaster
FontMaster comes as seven different modules. Its quait expensive. It’s available for PC and Mac.
FontLab Studio
sn’t exactly cheap, coming in at $649 (US). Hes web site give you a 30 days free trial before you buy it. It’s available for both PC and Mac.
FontCreator
More affordable than FontLab. Only work with TrueType and OpenType fonts—no Type 1 fonts—and is for Windows only.
FontForge
Installing FontForge (at least under Windows) is not exactly a simple matter (you’ll need to install Cygwin first). Also, the program is not as well documented as FontLab. There was an interesting thread recently over at Typophile about FontForge that you might want to read, if you’re considering taking the open-source plunge. FontForge is available for PC, Mac, and Linux. (If you’re a Linux user, FontForge is more or less your only choice.)

The project was, creating as you already know, a single font, using diferent prossece, the original one, was to combine the three and differenced with different colors, well, we keep on going with the prossece and merge all of them after some adjustment.

Olimpus font:
Its about to bring to the people a different perspective for the unknown, the freedom of playing with new methods and style of fonts, we made this in order to createand unick tipography design, so we hope you enjoy it!!!.
The reason for Olimpus andnot any other word, was because, we have combine three of the most used Fonts around the hole world, so in order to keep with the legasy we named Olimpus, allthough it doesnt belong to any tipography family (because, once you have combine two or three or more than three tipes of fonts, your creating a hole new one).

Gestalt Origin
Gestalt psychology was founded by German thinkers Max Wertheimer, Wolfgang Kohler, and Kurt Koffka and focused on how people interpret the world. The Gestalt perspective formed partially as a response to the structuralism of Wilhelm Wundt, who focused on breaking down mental events and experiences to the smallest elements. Es un concepto, una experiencia, una idea, imagen proyectada desde la imaginación a la vida, se une lo práctico-funcional, y lo estético, a mi entender el diseño como tal no es algo especifico viendo que no todo es general así tampoco todo los diseños pueden ser generales, algo común del concepto del diseño es, que influye en muchos nuestro modo de vivir, en nuestra historia, cultura, religión, influencias, imaginación, ingeniería, y nuestra tecnología, ya que todo esto forman parte del fin de un diseño.
